Clinical Laboratory Scientist

The Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) will be responsible for high complexity molecular diagnostic testing. The CLS will perform pre-analytical and analytical testing, interpretation of results and submission of patient reports to ordering physicians.

Responsibilities:

•  Performs DNA isolation and genotyping of DNA samples according to approved standard operating procedures.

•  Performs Quality Control, preventative maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment according to schedule.

•  Provides supervision to Laboratory Technicians and Data Entry personnel as required by applicable state and federal regulations.

•  Ensures accurate test result reporting, maintains QC records and documentation.

•  Detects and responds to unusual or unexpected results, initiates troubleshooting steps to identify and correct causes of testing failure.

•  Monitors and maintains a consistent supply of reagents and consumables.

•  Assists in training of new employees as needed.

•  Contributes to test improvement and new protocol development.
